Technology & Blockchain

Underneath the prices there is engineering, and it decides what these networks can and cannot do. This section covers the technology on its own terms — how a system works, what it trades away, and where it has actually failed — rather than as a proxy for whether a token goes up.

Two areas get their own coverage. DeFi news follows lending markets, decentralised exchanges, yield mechanisms and the exploits that keep happening, because in DeFi the security model is the product and a smart-contract bug is a total-loss event rather than an inconvenience. NFTs and Web3 covers digital ownership, the infrastructure beneath it, and the sizeable gap between what was promised in 2021 and what is being used now.

We try to be honest about trade-offs, because every design here has one. High throughput usually costs decentralisation. Low fees usually mean fewer validators or more trust in an operator. A fixed supply is a monetary choice with real critics, not a self-evident virtue. When we describe a network we say what it gives up, and when a network has broken — outages, exploits, failed upgrades — that goes in the record rather than being smoothed over.

We also avoid treating a technical milestone as a market signal. An upgrade shipping is a fact about software; what it does to a price is a separate question we do not pretend to answer. Where a claim is contested among people who understand the system, we say it is contested instead of picking the tidier side.

If you are starting from scratch, beginner guides covers the fundamentals in plain language, and each coin page explains how that specific network reaches consensus and how its supply works. Live prices are documented in our methodology.
