Affiliate Disclosure
This page explains how this site is funded and what that means for what you read.
Current position
We do not currently have any affiliate partnerships, and there are no affiliate links on this site. We are stating that plainly because a generic disclosure page implying relationships that do not exist would be its own small dishonesty. If that changes, this page changes with it, and each partner will be named here.
What an affiliate link is
An affiliate link pays the publisher a commission if you sign up or transact after clicking it. The cost to you is normally unchanged, but the publisher has a financial interest in you clicking. That interest is a conflict, and the only reasonable response is to declare it.
The rules we will follow if we add them
- Affiliate links are marked
rel="sponsored"so search engines and readers can identify them. - A disclosure appears above the body of any article containing them — not buried in the footer.
- Every partner is listed on this page.
- A commercial relationship never affects a review score or a ranking. Exchange reviews are scored against a rubric published with the review, and we will publish a poor score for a partner if that is what the rubric produces.
- We will not accept payment for coverage, for a rating, or for the removal of criticism.
Advertising
We may display advertising. Ad units are labelled, are kept out of safety content and disclaimers, and reserve their space so the page does not jump as they load. Advertisers get no say in editorial.
Sponsored content
If we ever publish sponsored material it will be labelled SPONSORED, visually distinct from editorial, excluded from our editorial feeds and news sitemap, and will link out with rel="sponsored". We do not publish token promotions, presales or ICO marketing as editorial analysis at any price.
