If the fun is backed up by any sort of good reason, then there needs to be a good reason for the fun. If the fun is not backed up by any sort of good reason, then it’s a stupid thing to do. So, the way to avoid doing stupid things is to come up with a reason. In the case of quid ika, it was a good reason to do it, so we should thank the developer for the good deed.
